Olimpiyat 2 Resturant History

Kumkapı, which is now located within Eminönü district of world's unique city loining two continents, İstanbul, was founded as a fishermen village Byzatine era and was rebuilt 150 years ago. The quarter which kept during Otoman era its characteristics of being a location where people who were fnd of eating and drinking as well as entertainment were living, is now offering sightseeing such as churches and other historical places going back to Byzantine and Ottoman eras. Even today, the first thing which comes to one's mind when the name of Kumkapı is cited, is éeating-drinking" and" entertainment".

The quarter which is one of İstanbul's most important touristic regions, is the most important center where "Turkish pubs" are gathered as a collective tradition of Turkish, Armenia and Jewish citizens of the city. Tables placed on the caobblestone pavements of the quarter's streets are occupied by locals and feroigners starting early hours of the evening. Tradititonal Ottoman appetizers are avalieble on the manus.

Fresh seasonal fish follow the appetizers as main courses. Treditional Turkish alcoholic beverage "Rakı" accompanies the meals. Other alcoholic beverages such as wine are also served in the Turkish pubs. Mobile bands composed of violin, darbuka and clarinet are playing traditional Turkish music (fasıl) in Kumkapı's Turkish pubs where you may witness conversations in different languages in each table and in some plus you may even have belly dancers performing traditional dances.

Kumkapı which is the leading favorite place of local and foreign guests visiting İstanbul, and which turns into a carnival square during the evenings, is open till 02:00 am.
